Customize the template of my points using mapping (edit field attribution)

When creating a list via an import or app connection (Excel, Google Sheets, JSON, Joform...), you must define a formatting template for your points using mapping. It will then be applied to all points in your data source.

Mapping consists of matching the fields/values from your data source (for example, the columns in your spreadsheet file) with Wemap properties.

🔁 Performing the mapping

1. Name your list
2. Perform the mapping by moving the "Values" labels to the corresponding properties.

👉 Specifics:

• Non-mandatory fields are marked as "Optional"
• The advanced fields require special formatting; use the description field for all contact information such as email, phone, website, etc...
• The "Image or video" field expects a URL-type value
• To differentiate the POIs on your map based on a theme (e.g., type of location...), you can assign them different icons according to their respective category using the "Category icon" property: click on the pencil icon to associate an icon based on categories
• Tags allow you to highlight information and/or perform searches by criteria. You can use dedicated columns (here named "TAG 1" and "TAG 2") but also information already used in the description field.
• The different Feed fields allow you to connect social media content (Twitter, Facebook…) to display live posts

3. Customize and style the content of the "Description" section:

• Description customization:
  • Plain text
  • Title with icon:
    • Associate an icon with the title from the suggested list

    • Modify the title if you wish, in the field to the right of the icon

      👉 You also have the option to display an icon without a title by enabling the "Hide title" option

  • Action button:
    • Enter a label to display on the action button (e.g., Website)
    • The action button redirects the user to the link you entered in the corresponding value in your file

4. Configure the display of points on the map

• Choose an icon to display by default.
• Display choice:
  • Always display an icon: upload your own file in JPEN or PNG format or choose from the list
  • Display a preview of photos or videos: if one or more points have an image or video property (URL format), you can choose to display the thumbnail rather than an icon

5. Configure other options

• Import only feed items that contain an image.
• Enable synchronization:

  • By default, synchronization is set to occur every hour.

4. Click on "Import to a list" at the bottom of the page (or "Update" if this is a mapping update)
