Create your map from an OpenDataSoft database
OpenDataSoft is software that allows businesses, local authorities and administrations to organize, share and visualize all types of data, as well as make them available via APIs.
You can connect an OpenDataSoft dataset and import it to the Wemap platform via the Json connector. Your content is therefore synchronized in real time: if a change is made in the OpenDataSoft dataset, Wemap will update your map accordingly without any intervention on your part.
Here is the simple process that will allow you to connect your OpenDataSoft dataset to Wemap π:
Step 1: Retrieve the dataset on the OpenDataSoft platform of your choice

Select API to retrieve your dataset in JSON format allowing real-time synchronization.

The dataset contains a certain number of results (records) visible on the right side of your screen.
β Remember to increase the number of result rows (Row) so that all results are included in your dataset. By default, it is set to 10, we recommend you enter a value greater than the number of results.

Step 2: Click on "Send" at the bottom of the page and retrieve the URL provided by the API in JSON format

A new tab opens showing you all available results (records) in JSON format.
β To make the elements more visible, we recommend you download the JSON Viewer Plug-in
Here is what appears.
Each result (record) is formatted with the same properties (underlined in yellow)
Each property represents information that can be used on the map.

Copy the URL then go to your Wemap platform.
Step 3: Connect the dataset to Wemap
- In the "Create" tab, choose "List" then "Connect an app"

- In the list, choose the JSON connector by clicking on "Connect"

- Paste the URL from OpenDataSoft in the indicated location then click on the icon on the right.

At this step, two object arrays are offered to you: facet groups and records
π‘ Choose record because it contains the different locations to display on your map, then click on "Choose this path"

It's done π! You now have access to the mapping that will allow you to drag and drop OpenDataSoft values into the corresponding Wemap properties.
β 3 important things to remember:
- Be sure to choose "recordid" as Unique ID (Wemap property) - not to be confused with "datasetid" which corresponds to the entire dataset.
- Wemap absolutely needs the following values to correctly locate your points on the map: Unique ID - Name - Address (in the form of postal address or latitude/longitude)
- Don't forget to give your list a name!

Finally, if you want to modify or add certain elements to your dataset, this can be done in a few clicks, don't hesitate to contact the data manager within your local authority or use the contact section of your OpenDataSoft. π
