Manage and format your data in a spreadsheet
Using a dynamic spreadsheet allows you to easily manage your content.
Indeed, the additions, modifications and deletions you make in the spreadsheet are automatically reflected on the Wemap platform.
Your file is translated into a list of points that synchronizes every hour.
Step 1: Getting Started
- Each row represents a point and each column a property of that point.
- 3 pieces of information are essential for creating this point: the ID, the point name and the address.

π‘ The ID is a unique identifier that allows Wemap to link the content to the relevant point. By default, you can number your points from 1 to as many rows as your sheet contains. You can also use one of the pieces of information from your content (e.g.: company SIRET number, project file number....)
π‘ The address can be entered in a single column or split into several columns: street number and name / postal code / city for example.
The more detailed an address is, the more precisely the point will be placed on the map.
If your address is imprecise, or if your event takes place in a particular location (hamlet, parking lot, riverside...) it is possible to use GPS coordinates rather than a postal address and fill in the latitude and longitude columns
Step 2: Complete your content
Once the essential information is entered, you can add as much information as you wish to your points: description, practical information, contact details (email, phone)... But also an illustration image or video, a redirect link to a page on your own website or to a partner site.
To allow users of your map to easily access your information, we also recommend that you provide them with search filters (=tag).

Step 3: The right formats
- Image or video: enter a URL, the media must be hosted on a server and not on a drive or cloud.
- TAG: to avoid duplicates, as the same tag entered in a different style or syntax creates two distinct filters. For example: All audiences / all audiences, we recommend adding a dropdown menu containing the exhaustive list of filters you wish to make available.
β οΈ Using a comma will also split your TAG into several elements. For example: Exhibition, painting, sculpture will give 3 distinct tags.

β οΈ The formatting of your content, line breaks, italicizing or bolding certain terms..., is not taken into account when creating the list.
To apply style to your data, you must use html tags directly in the cells of your sheet.

To go further:
Once your list is created and the file synchronized to Wemap, you can continue to complete it. However, if you want to add a column, remember to add it after the existing columns. Indeed, inserting a column shifts the mapping of your points and thus all their formatting on the map.
