Manage the privacy of my content
By default, the content you create on your Wemap tool is "public", meaning visible to all users of your maps.
It is also possible to find your content via Wemap search engines and your point lists can be used on another map.
Example: each year, during heritage days, the Ministry of Culture creates the program map with Wemap and populates it with lists of events by region. You can then reuse one of these lists to populate your own program.
π Overview of privacy statuses
There are 3 statuses you can apply to your content:
- Public
The content is visible to all users and can be reused on other maps without being modified.
- Shared
The content can only be visible if the point list and map were created by the same Wemap Pro account.
Your content is visible without restrictions but it cannot be reused by a third party on their own Wemap map.
- Private
The content is only visible to people authorized to connect to your map. Even if they have the link to your map, it is "empty" for other users.
π Change the status of your list
- Find the relevant list: "Manage" > "My lists"
- Click on the 3 dots, at the end of the line, and click on "Change status"
- Select the desired status
πChange the status of your points
- Enter the content of your list
- Select your points (individually or in bulk)
- Click on "Actions" > "Change status"
- Select the desired status
π Note:
It is possible to define a status for all or part of the points in a list. This is why it is recommended to check the status of your points even after modifying that of your list.
