Create a collaborative map with the Jotform connector
Creating a contributory map allows you to inventory the initiatives and events you want to communicate about, collect data in a standardized way, and build a network of project leaders...
You can also moderate contributions and thus only display the elements you have selected.
Why Jotform?:
- a simple and powerful tool, 100% customizable
- photo hosting on their platform simplifies their connection with Wemap
- without creating an account, contributors can easily fill out the form and modify the information provided whenever they want via an automatically provided edit link
- a direct link between Jotform and Wemap is established via an API, facilitating the synchronization of contributions on your Wemap map
Step 1: Create and customize your form.
From the Jotform homepage, create and manage your forms.

π‘ You can determine the email address(es) that will receive form contribution notifications (by default it is the Jotform account creation address).

π‘ To give contributors the ability to modify their form information, add the "edit link" field to the contribution confirmation email.

π‘ In the "Publish" section of the form creation page, you can manage the sharing and integration of your form.

Step 2: Moderate contributions π
The "table" view accessible via the "Submission" button allows you to manage the collected data.

π‘ Adding a checkbox column, renamed "Publish", to your form enables contribution moderation.
Only contributions with the "Publish" option checked will be imported to your map.
By default, without this column, all contributions appear on the map.

Step 4: Connect contributions to your Wemap map
Importing your contributions to Wemap requires a URL structured as follows:
π https://eu-api.jotform.com/form/XXXXXXXX (form ID)/submissions?apikey=XXXXXXXXXXX (API key)&orderby=id
The XXXX fields should be replaced with your information:
- Form ID: identifies which form Wemap should connect to
- API Key: authorizes Wemap to connect to your account
Where to find your form ID? π΅οΈ

Where to find your Jotform account API key? (or create it if necessary) π·ββοΈ

Once your URL is created, go to your Wemap pro account. To transform your contributions into geolocatable points on a map: click on create a list, then connect an app and select the Jotform connector.
Enter the URL, select "content" and validate by clicking on "choose this path"

You can then proceed with mapping:

The columns from your Jotform that correspond to your point properties appear here in blue. You simply need to match these values with the relevant fields.
π 3 fields are essential for importing your points: ID, name, and address.

- Match the ID property from your file with the Unique ID field
- Advanced fields require special formatting; prefer using the description field for all contact information like email, phone, website, etc.
- The Address, Tags, and Description fields can contain multiple values.
- Content placed in Description can also be customized (simple text, title with icon, action button).
- The various Feed fields allow you to connect social media content (Twitter, Facebookβ¦) to display live posts.
- The photo field expects a URL value.
- In the category icon field, you can choose different icons based on a particular criterion. For example: you have a "types of activity" column in your excel document and want to distinguish them with specific icons. Place this value ("types of activity") in the category icon field, a list appears, and you simply assign an icon to each item.
Once finished, click on connect.
π‘ To help determine which form columns correspond to which values: open the JSON URL in another window. To make elements more visible, we recommend downloading the JSON Viewer plug-in
Attach the list you created to your map

Step 5: Customize your map π¨
A Wemap map has a pack of native options (default), basic settings that you can choose to keep or customize according to your usage context.
