Translate a list of POIs or events into a specific language

🛠️ Prerequisites:

  • The Translation App connector must be included in your subscription to be used. For more information about this, please feel free to contact us at customers@getwemap.com
  • Before using the connector, you must first create your source list in its original language via one of our 3 methods:
    • Create a list of points manually
    • Import an Excel file
    • Use a connector

📋 Create a list of POIs or events translated into a target language

  1. Go to the "Create" > "List" > "Connect an app" page
  2. Select "Translation App" and click on "Connect"
  3. Enter the name to give to your new list, then click on "Choose source list"
  4. Select the list to translate and click on "Add"
  5. Fill in the different fields:
    • Point fields to translate: select "Name" and/or "Description"
    • Event fields to translate: select "Name" and/or "Description"
    • Source language: select the language used in the source list
    • Target language: select the language into which you want to translate your list
    • API Model (optional): leave this field empty
    • OpenAI API Key (optional): leave this field empty
  1. Choose the display type: icon or thumbnail
  2. Leave synchronization enabled
  3. Click on "Connect"


The list is then created: find it in "Manage" > "My lists".

The names and/or descriptions of the POIs from the source list are translated into the chosen language.

You can now add the list to your map.

📌 Please note:

  • If you want to translate a list into multiple languages, you must repeat the operation for each target language.
  • To also translate event dates into the target language, you must configure the "Language" field of your map, from the "Map layout, controls and launch" menu.
  • Any tags associated with POIs are not translated and must be translated manually.

🔄 Update the translation of a POI or event in a target list

When a modification is made to the name and/or description of a POI or event in the source list, the update is not automatic in the translated list.

You must perform an action yourself to trigger the update:

  1. Go to your translated list
  2. Select the POI(s) or event(s) concerned
  3. Click on "Actions" > "Update translation"
  4. Check the fields to update: name and/or description
  5. Click on "Update"


The update is applied and can be viewed instantly after refreshing the page.

📌 Please note:

  • Modifications made to a POI or event in the target list are not applied to the source list.
