Create a route / path / itinerary and integrate it into a map
You want to integrate routes / tracks / itineraries into your map (e.g., hiking trail, discovery circuit...)? We'll explain how!
You can use 2 methods:
- Creating a route
- Creating a resource
π£οΈ Method #1: Creating a route
This method is recommended if you want to add detailed information in a route description and make it interactive.
- Go to the "Create" > "Route" page
- Associate the route with a list:
- Search for an existing list to which you want to add the route, then select it
- Create a new list by entering the name you want to give it, then click on "+" to the right of the field
- Enter a name for your route
- Add, if you wish:
- a description or information that will appear in the detailed view of the route when clicking on the map;
- a tag to enable filtering the search on the map;
- an image or video associated with the route.
π Note:
In the space dedicated to adding information, you can format your text, create paragraphs by inserting separators, add media in URL format, insert redirect links, etc. You can also stylize your content in html.
- Click on "Generate the track" at the bottom right
- Import or draw your track:
- Import a file (GPX, Geojson, KML):
- Add the relevant file in one of the 3 accepted formats
- Customize the appearance and color of the line outline if you wish β> you can also modify it later by going back to "Generate the track" then to "Edit the track"
- Click on "Next", then "Save"
- Edit the track:
- Click on the drawing icon (between the arrow and pedestrian icons)
- Draw your route
- Then transform your route into a pedestrian or car itinerary by clicking on the relevant icon
- Customize the appearance and color of the line outline if you wish
- Click on "Next", then "Save"
- Click on "Create"
Once your route is created:
- Add the list (to which it belongs) to your map
π£ Good to know:
You can also add stops to your route by clicking on "Add stops", then importing the information using the method of your choice:
- Import an xlsx file: the stops must be entered in the file with the name and address or latitude / longitude of the points
- Import a list: select a list from Wemap Pro to associate the points with your route
- Import a point: select the points from Wemap Pro to associate them with your route
- Create a stop manually: click directly on the map at the location where you want to position your stop
The stops then appear at the bottom of the page and you have the option to:
- Edit the description ("Edit" button)
- Modify the order of stops (3-line icon)
- Delete the stop (trash icon)
- Number the stops
βοΈ Method #2: Creating a resource
This method is recommended if you want to import a route for which you don't want to associate rich content / information (e.g., description...).
It will then be added as a layer to the map and will not be interactive.
