How can I get my users' location to offer them a navigation service?
In order to provide an accurate navigation system, it is essential to know the user's position to start the experience.
By default, we use the position returned by GPS. However, there are other systems to compensate for imprecise or non-existent location, especially indoors:
- Using QR codes
These QR codes are georeferenced (GPS coordinates): when a visitor scans the QR code, they are automatically located and can start their navigation.
β οΈ This solution requires the user to have an internet connection.
π‘ Tips:
Your QR codes can be placed / integrated on a large number of supports: kiosks, street furniture, posters...
- Using VPS (visual positioning system)
If using QR codes is not desired, Wemap also offers its proprietary vision-based positioning system (VPS).
To do this, it is necessary to scan your environment using a 360 camera (capture performed by Wemap or yourself).
From this resource, we reconstruct a 3D point cloud in which the user will be able to locate themselves using their smartphone camera.
β οΈ This solution requires the user to have an internet connection.
π‘ Tips:
Ideal for complex spaces: airports, metro stations, shopping centers...
- Using third-party technology
This would be a technology integrated by Wemap (bluetooth beacons for example)
